RSS-Feed is here + Some OpenAnno News

Hello everyone,
Welcome to a new OpenAnno newsflash.

Let's get to the important things first:
As you may have noticed, we did not have a global RSS-feed on our new website when we launched it, this has been fixed and you can now bookmark our feed here. The old feed url has been forwarded to the new one, but we would like to remind everyone to update, as the redirect might be removed in future.

Now to the fun part:
Work on OpenAnno has been a litte slow the past few weeks, due to most developers having a lot of university stress. We hope to be getting some work done in the holidays and to complete the following features:

  • Random tree graphics on build (mostly done, we only need new graphics).
  • A free trader that sells and buys the players goods.
  • A boatyard, so the player can build new ships and preferably a fishersboat.

We have also been in contact with some great sound guys, who hope to contribute some speach samples and music to the project. So we are very looking forward to that.

Despite the small amount of time that was available during the last weeks, we managed to fix some bugs and redesign the storage handling, allowing us for a more flexibel storage handling of ships. They don't use slots anymore, only have a maximum storage,  so you can choose how to divide your goods. For example you might have a limit of 200 tons, originally you had 4 slots of 50tons to use,  now you could also have 60 tons of wool, 121 tons of wood and 19tons of food if you like.

Finally I'd like to thank everyone involved in making the new homepage, you really did a great job! I'd also like to thank everyone for the positive feedback we got, it's a great motivation :-).

That was it for today's news. Stay tuned for more and visit us on irc: #openanno@irc.freenode.net. Have a nice christmas time!

So long,
Nihathrael
